G.A.T. Restaurant

Situated on Gustaf Adolfs Torg in the heart of Stockholm, G.A.T. is a newly opened bistro that bridges architectural legacy with American and French gastronomy. Designed by AML for 20-Gruppen, the transformation of the historic premises within Davidsonska huset has been guided by a sensitivity to, and respect for, the building’s heritage. The project seeks to establish a quiet continuity between past and present - a restaurant that feels as though it has always been there, yet is carefully conceived to endure and take root over time. The spatial layout has been precisely orchestrated to align with the natural rhythm of the restaurant. Dual entrances create an intuitive distinction between the vibrant energy of the bar and the more intimate dining room. Bespoke lighting fixtures and a custom bar shelving system, suspended from the upper edge of the raised wall paneling, integrate seamlessly into the existing fabric, allowing the original woodwork to remain intact and fully expressed. The result is a refined dialogue between old and new, a tactile and composed interior where contemporary precision softly illuminates history.
