Building permit approved for the new Liljeholmsbadet

24.08.2026

The building permit for the new Liljeholmsbadet in Marievik has now been granted. Originally built in 1930 for Hornstull, Liljeholmsbadet is a unique piece of Stockholm’s architectural and social history. Following its acquisition by AMF Fastigheter in 2025, the building will now be given a new life across the water in Marievik. Together with AMF Fastigheter and a team of conservation specialists, AML is working to carefully recreate the bathhouse’s original late-1920s character. Parts of the existing building will be preserved and reused, while elements that cannot be saved will be carefully reconstructed based on the original drawings, which have been thoroughly studied by our team. The ambition is not simply to move a building, but to carry its identity into a new chapter - restoring its Swedish Grace qualities while adapting it for todays use. A historic place for bathing, sauna and social life, soon to become part of the new Marievik. Opening planned for spring 2028.
